The Virgen del Carmen at Tabarca Island 16th July

Tabarca itself is so remarkable that it merits visit just for its own beautiful landscape, gastronomy and human interest.

In July, at the peak of the high season, the sea pilgrimage in honour of the Virgen del Carmen lends a solemn note to so much sun and sangria. This is an impressive and emotional event, in which a people ride a procession of boats in honour of the image of the Virgin and remember the dead seamen by throwing flowers into the sea among the sounds of the salves and Marian songs.
