The banks and savings & loans are open to the public from 8:30 to 2 p.m. during the week, and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Some branches are also open in the afternoon, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This timetable can vary depending on the banks.

In summer time, between June and September banks are closed on Saturday morning.

It is not difficult to open a bank account. It is a very simple procedure which can be done at home or upon arrival.

For foreigners in Spain, there are two types of bank accounts: resident and non-resident accounts. To have this document to probe your status as resident or non-resident, you have to go to the local Police Station and apply for this certificate (certificado de no residencia o tarjeta de residencia). It takes approx. 15 days to receive thedocument. You have usually to justify your status as a resident or a non-resident, however many bank branches do not ask for them..

All you need to bring with you is your valid passport and the initial deposit. There is no minimum deposit to be able to open an account in Euros.

Spain's predominant climate is Mediterranean-temperate, with dry summers, and pretty constant temperatures during the winter. In Spain, you will enjoy more than three thousand hours of sunlight.

However, its rugged relief gives rise to a great diversity of climates in Spain.

The North of Spain —Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, Basque Country— has an oceanic type of climate, humid on the coast and continental inland. The temperatures are mil throughout the year, with rain more frequent in the spring and autumm, temperature winters and summers which are not too hot. The average temprature in summer is 20ºC and 8ºC in the winter.

The cost of living in Spain is less than in other European countries, like United Kingdom, France, Germany or Italy.

Regarding the cost of living in Spain, here you have an estimate for one person.

Accommodation in private studio with small kitchen just in the entrance fully equipped, fitted with electrical stove plates, small refrigerator, kitchen utensils (plates, glasses, cutlery, pots...), living room with 2 beds, sofa, table, chairs, TV), a bathroom with washing machine, air-conditioning; small terrace with small table and chairs; ded linen, towels, the electricity and water expenses are included in the price, for 1 person, 400 € - 500€ per month.

Talking in general:
- food bills for 1 person, is from 150 to 180 € per month.
- going out for a drink ( 1 beer in a terrace every day - 2€) - 60 Euros per month
- going out for a coffe (1 coffee - 1 Euro) - 30 Euros per month
- going out to a restaurant (between 6 Euros and 30 €) - Once a week - 60 Euros per month
- telephone cost: the cheapest is to make phone calls from Correos (the Post Office) from 8:30 in the morning until 8:30 in the afternoon every day from Monday until Friday, and Saturdays from 8:30 in the morning until 6:00 in the afternoon (30 minutes making phone calls to a "fix" phone 2 Euros and 10 cents and 30 minutes making phone calls to a mobile phone, 7 Euros and 20 cents).

The cost of living for a family (couple and 2 children) is around 1,400 € including rent, food, entertainment and cloths.

The official currencyis the EURO (€).
The coin scome in denominations of €1, €2; 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 cents and the notes indenominationsof €5, €10, €20, €50, €100, €200 and €500.

No vaccination is required to en try in Spain.

As regards foreign money, all amounts greater than the equivalent of 6.000€ per person must be declared in customs.

The usual eating hours in Spain are as follow:

Breakfast: From 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Lunch: From 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Dinner: From 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Restaurants only offers meals at these hours.

Travelling to Spain is easy.
The documents you need vary depending on where you are from.

If you are a citizen of the European Union, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein: all you need is your Identification Card, or a valid passport. Minors travelling with their ID card must have a document that shows parental authorisation.

If you are from any of the following countries: Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Cyprus, Costa Rica, Croatia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Slovakia, Slovenia, United States, Estonia, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Israel, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Nicaragua, New Zealand, Panama, Paraguay, Poland, Czech Republic, Korea, Romania, San Marino, Singapore, Uruguay, and Venezuela, as well as the Special Chinese Administrative Regions of Macao, and Hong Kong: all you need is a valid passport to enter Spain, where you can stay for a maximum of 90 days.

If you are from any other country, according to the criteria of the EU: you must request a visa at the Spanish Consulate of your country of residence. You will also need a valid passport. For these cases, the Spanish authorities may ask documents showing where you will stay, confirmation of an organised tour, return air tickets, tourist circuit, or a personal invitation letter. You may also be asked to show proof of having enough financial resources to support yourself during your stay in Spain. Conditions may vary, we recommend you contact your local Spanish Consulate or Embassy for more information on these requirements.

All authorized taxis clearly display the status of their public service. There is a fixed price for begining service, plus a fee depending on the time and the area covered, which are regulated by publicly displayed tariffs.

All taxis have a taximeter which indicates the amount due. If there are additional fees, these should be displayed to the public.
